1) Program overview
Dad’s Garage is a community cost‑sharing and access program operated by Dad Knows Best (“DKB”). Members may pledge a share (10%, 25%, 50%) toward an item’s purchase and/or contribute toward maintenance and repairs. Priority of access is based on pledge level.
Pledges are commitments to contribute; funds are collected only after Admin confirms collection details and the item is funded.
2) Ownership, access, and scheduling
- Access is scheduled by priority. Higher pledge levels receive higher scheduling priority.
- Actual scheduling is coordinated by Admin and may consider safety, transport, location, maintenance windows, and fairness.
- Some items may require supervised use, proof of competence, or additional instructions before use.
3) Safety and proper use
- Members agree to use all items safely, lawfully, and in accordance with manufacturer instructions.
- Members agree to inspect items before use and stop using any item that appears unsafe, damaged, or malfunctioning.
- Members are responsible for appropriate protective equipment (PPE) and safe operating practices.
4) Responsibility for damage and misuse
- Members may be responsible for damage caused by misuse, negligence, unauthorized modifications, or failure to follow instructions.
- Admin may determine a fair allocation of repair costs, including charging a user for avoidable damage.
- Repeated misuse may result in suspension of access.
5) Maintenance, repairs, and cost sharing
- Admin may post maintenance/repair events and costs. A member’s share may be calculated proportional to their pledge percentage.
- Maintenance decisions (timing, vendors, parts) are handled by Admin in good faith.
- Costs shown in dashboards may be estimates until receipts and final totals are confirmed.
6) Liability waiver and assumption of risk
Tools and equipment can be dangerous. By participating, members acknowledge and accept the risks of injury, property damage, and loss associated with tool/equipment use, transport, and storage.
To the maximum extent permitted by law, members agree to release and hold harmless Dad Knows Best, its administrators, volunteers, and participating members from claims arising from participation, except where prohibited by law.
7) Insurance and compliance
- Members are responsible for any insurance they deem necessary for their activities.
- For regulated items (e.g., certain vehicles, trailers, or property access), Admin may require documentation, waivers, or additional terms.
- Members must comply with all applicable laws, licensing, and safety requirements.
8) No guarantees
DKB provides access coordination and community sharing. DKB does not guarantee availability, fitness for a particular purpose, or uninterrupted access.
9) Changes and termination
Admin may update these terms and the program rules at any time to improve fairness and safety. Access may be limited or revoked for safety reasons, misuse, or non‑payment of agreed contributions.
